I like to do what I can to raise bisexual awareness. I am very pro-bigh. Some people think I'm biphobic, but I don't think that's true because a lot of what I do when I talk to bi people is I encourage them to come out of the closet. 70 plus percent, 78 percent of gay men and lesbians out to everyone

important in their personal lives, professional lives. It's a Pew Research poll that found that

and only I think 26 percent mid-20s of bisexual people are out to everyone in their lives, friends, family. And that's a real problem for bi-visibility, that so many bi-people are closeted is a big problem for bi-visibility. So I am always importuning bi-people to come out. And I get a lot of letters that Savage Love for bi people who have come out and are grateful for the little encouragement, little push I gave them. So to those of you who think I'm bifobic, you know, somebody who's bifobic doesn't want there to be more out by people. I think that kind of disproves the bifobia thing. But I bring up bisexuality, not just to be an asshole, but because it is bisexual awareness week. And I want to do what I can to raise awareness about bisexuality.

Charles Blow is a really terrific writer and op-ed columnist for the New York Times.

And Charles has a new book coming out, Fire Shut Up in My Bones.

It's a memoir about his life and his journey.

And the New York Times ran a front page excerpt from Charles's new book in the Sunday review section this weekend.

And it is amazing piece.
