called in to point out, we didn't talk on the show about the repeal at long last of don't ask,

don't tell, or the passage of civil unions in Illinois, both huge victories in the struggle for gay rights,

and I am, of course, all over those victories in the struggle for gay rights.

The reason we didn't cover it was we banked a few shows in advance.

That means, of course, that the show where I opened talking about how we're going to all get behind Obama now,

as he faces off with the Republican majority in the House and we bear down

on 2012 recorded before DADT passed. So it wasn't because of D80T's passage that I was

buddying back up to the president because I am a realist and not a single issue voter. Although now,

of course, with DADT passed, I am much more delighted with the White House

than I have been for the last couple of years. It would be nice to see them throughout their

defense of the Defense of Marriage Act, which the Justice Department is still defending

aggressively, but whatever. We're on much better terms now, me and the man in the White

House. So I apologize to everyone who wanted to hear what we had thought about DADT being repealed. We think it's awesome. We couldn't cover it because we bagged some shows. And we bagged some shows because it was the holidays. Also because I was finishing up the It Gets Better Book, which is coming out in March, finishing that up over the holidays. That was a huge kidney stone to pass.

But that's going to be coming out. I hope you're all looking forward to that. It's really
