So there was an election last Tuesday here in the United States where most of you podcast listeners are located and hopefully most of you voted.

And hopefully most of you voted for Democrats.

I trust among my listenership,

there are a few Republicans, or few Republicans who would admit it, admit that they're among

my listenership or admit that they are Republicans to me. And I just want to say, remember 2004.

Remember how bad that felt when George W. Bush got his slimy ass reelected.

And remember how estranged you felt from your fellow Americans, from your country, from your democracy.

And what did we do?

Well, two years later in 2006, we took the House.

Two years after that, in 2008,

we elected this Barack Obama dude who, you know, didn't turn out to be the Messiah, but is certainly a much better president than George W. Bush ever could have been or was. And so what are we going to do over the next couple of years as we stare down the barrels of 2012? We're not going to fucking cry. Well, we'll cry for a week. But then after that, and this is the week is up. It's a Tuesday, a week later. We're going to cry for a week, done crying. We're going to organize. We're going to raise money. We're going to pay

fucking attention. We're going to fight back. We're going to win. Remember, they only took the

House. They didn't even take the Senate, in part thanks to self-inflicted wounds, the Republican Party

and the Tea Party. You look at the races for Senate in Nevada, Delaware, West Virginia, Alaska.

They could have had a much better night.

They could have taken the Senate, too.

It could have been much more demoralizing, much more depressing.

And remember, Barack Obama still has a veto pen.

It's not like the Republicans are in charge.
