Hi everyone. Welcome again to Logical Bible Study. If you're new to this podcast, this is a Catholic

ministry that's all about taking a look at the Bible, the text of the Bible in a really

academic, rigorous way. So we move through the Gospels verse by verse doing an exegesis,

so a proper exegesis of the literal sense of the text, which is where we should always start

as Catholics. And we do it by looking at the gospel text that you would hear at each day's

mass.

Today we want to look at Luke chapter 11 verses 27 to 28. It's an interesting little passage.

As Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said,

Happy the womb that bore you and the breasts you sucked. But he replied,

still happy are those who hear the word of God and keep it. That's all there is in today's reading.

So let's start by thinking about the context. So Jesus is on the way from Galilee to Judea, so he's moving from

the north of Israel to the south. He's doing ministry along the way. Just before this in Luke

11, he's been teaching about the significance of casting out demons in terms of the kingdom of

God. So remember he had that speech about, if I cast out demons, it's not by the power of Bielasible.

It's because the kingdom of God has come upon you.

So we get to verse 27 today and it says, as Jesus was speaking.

So it's while he's still speaking about the demons, he gets interrupted right in the middle

of that.

He's just addressed to the objection about Bielzable.

And he's about to talk about the sign because he was to the objection about Bialzable and he's about to talk about

the sign because he was asked two questions about Bialzable and then a sign. So he's addressed

the Bialzabal one and he's about to talk about the sign, but then this woman from the crowd
