Way back to the podcast. way back in college, I took a course on the history of China, and I'll be frank,

it was 100% unfamiliar to me then, and I've retained none of it since.

The only thing I really remember is being given the option to write a historical dramatization in lieu of a research paper, an option I eagerly took.

I don't think I got a very good grade, though.

Turns out, it would take me another 20 years to get good at telling a compelling version of history.

All this to say, my knowledge of the history of China is pretty thin.
