Hello and welcome to PRISM of the past, a weekly series about historical events, people, and situations, from the fascinating to the forgotten.

I'm the aluminati, and today we're going to be getting into some

religious territory so before I do anything let me preface this by saying

that I wholeheartedly believe that everyone is entitled to their own faith, their own beliefs,

and their own religion, or lack thereof, so long as it's not hurting someone else.

I'm not trying to tell anyone what to believe in this video.

And honestly, the inspiration for this topic actually comes from

Lil Nause X and his recent music video, Montero. So many people were bothered by how hell and the devil

or Satan was depicted and danced on in the video and I

loved the video I got an absolute kick out of it I thought it was brilliant but it

really did get me questioning how the fear of Satan himself has been used and changed throughout history.

Although this is an extreme generalization and more of an overview of how Satan has changed,

I'm mostly talking about the Christian version of Satan

and the sort of red-horned popularized depiction

many of you may know,

and the one that was featured in the music video.

So today, we're going to start by diving right into how the devil has

been viewed in more ancient times and who he was back then. Who hadn't summoned me into this round?

Satan.

Oh, that's segment, segment. Now the devil himself has gone through many changes over the years and gone by many different names

though we might know him as a sort of classic red skin, fork tail, and horn

...
