Today we're going back to 2013 and a chemical weapons attack on suburbs of the Syrian capital Damascus

in which over a thousand people are believed to have died. It was one of the

single deadliest attacks of Syria's civil war and the UN later confirmed the chemical

used was the nerve agent sarin. I've been speaking to the UN disarmament chief

whose team of weapons inspectors reached the site just days after the attack.

The attack came in the early hours of the 21st of August 2013.

It was terrifying, this man told the BBC.

We'd never seen anything like it.

He lost 23 members of his family, 12 of them children.

The internet is awash with videos of carnage which the BBC can't verify.

The videos show people who are dead, children having convulsions, a large

field hospital are washed with water because they're spraying down a large number of
