Sarah was part of the team, which included Tim Kennedy, Chad Robichaux, and Nick Palmisciano, that coordinated the rescue of over 12,000 Americans and American allies in just over a week during the fall of Afghanistan in August of 2021. 0:39.4	Sarah Verrardo is a national advocate for wounded veterans and their caregivers.
0:43.3	Her husband, Sergeant Michael Verrardo, was catastrophically wounded in Afghanistan in
0:47.2	2010 into separate IED attacks that took his left leg, much of his left arm, and left
0:52.3	him with a polytraumatic condition that I've required more than 100 surgeries in years
0:58.4	of speech, visual, physical, and occupational therapies.
1:01.7	Starting as a volunteer with the independence fund, Sarah's steadfast devotion, experience
1:05.3	and drive led her, led her selection as the organization's first chief executive officer.
1:11.4	Sarah is at the forefront of Afghan Afghan ally inclusion within the veteran community.
1:15.8	Beginning in 2015, Sarah began working closely with the Afghan government to honor and celebrate
1:20.2	the sacrifices made by veterans in both nations, establishing regular events at the US based
