It was Thanksgiving of 1998 when Norma Patton said goodbye to her daughter Melissa on the phone and told her that she loved her.

That would be the last conversation they would ever have.

Melissa went missing and for years it remained a mystery.

But in reality, part of the mystery was solved very quickly when some of her remains were recovered chopped up in black trash bags in Atlanta, Georgia, not far from where she lived.

But the problem was for several years, the remains remained unidentified until 2003.

That's when the Flint River Killer was arrested,

a man who admitted to being a serial killer.

That man is also Melissa's father.

Well, the mystery continued,

and it would take years, decades,

for someone to actually be charged with Melissa's murder. And it wasn't her serial

killer father. Instead, it was her husband, Christopher Walfenbarter. Christopher is now on trial and

tonight we take you back to the scene of where Melissa's remains were found and to the river where her serial killer father disposed of his victims.

But first, in the quiet town of Carrollton, Georgia, a place where steeples rise above oak-line streets and Sundays are reserved for church and sweet tea, the community was shattered by a nightmare

they never saw coming. On the morning of February 20th, 2025, Kristen and James Brock were found

shot to death in their bed, their six-year-old daughter trembling as she discovered the gruesome scene.

Their 17-year-old daughter, Sarah Patrick, called 911 in what seemed like a panic.
