We have best-selling author and podcaster Dan Harris

This is behind the table. So, welcome to Dan and welcome to Sarah. Dan you are on the view with us today to

celebrate the 10th anniversary of your book 10% happier. The segment was a lot of fun

and as often happens on the view we kind of get sidetracked and we didn't really get to talk about how this all started for you and it started in a serious way you had a panic attack on live television.

We didn't talk about that? Not at all because Joy gets hijacked. This is the magic of the view.

She literally feels like she's in a one-on-one conversation. She does not notice that there are four other people

surrounding her with the guests. Things like setups and you know vital information we don't

really bother with that here. Joy might be living in a simulation but it's her own

simulation. She also sees all these hard-produced segments and questions that are written for

her as merely suggestions. As all great talent there. Yeah.

If you don't mind telling us about that I don't mind I don't mind at all. So it all

started because I lost my mind on national television on Good Morning America.

This was 20 years ago, 2004 June, I was filling in for Robin Roberts, who at that time her job was to anchor the news

updates on the show and I was a young correspondent and they were giving me this

chance to to fill in for her with some regularity and so I didn't I wasn't like

freaking out when I because I had done this before I wasn't unusually nervous or

anything like that although I always have kind of baseline stage fright and I

started reading the stories off of the teleprompter. There were like six stories I had to read

off of the teleprompter and a few seconds in I just lost the ability to breathe. My lungs
