mimetic species adopt the appearance of others to gain some form of advantage, usually to avoid predation.

Cuddlefish, masters of disguise, can change both color and texture in a blink to blend seamlessly into their surroundings.

But what if nature wasn't the only orchestrator of such phenomena?

During my years at the Bureau, I saw projects that aimed to harness this natural wonder

for less than honorable means. Technologies designed to make soldiers invisible on the battlefield, to

make aircraft undetectable by radar, initiatives that received billions in black budget funding.

Yet, despite the technological advances, the projects often ended in failure, if not catastrophe.

The science was there, but the application? That was another story.
