In the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, global powers have put the pressure on with sanctions upon sanctions. But what does that even mean? Class is in session as Sam attends Sanctions 101 with Cardiff Garcia, host of The New Bazaar, and Stacey Vanek Smith, co-host of The Indicator. Every day, we are seeing new images and hearing new stories out of Ukraine.

Bombed out buildings, gunfire, tanks on the ground, an incoming humanitarian crisis.

And pretty much the entire world has united against Vladimir Putin.

And while the U.S. and its allies haven't resolved to send in troops into Ukraine,

at least not yet, they are taking steps to damage the Kremlin in other ways.

Mainly, through sanctions.

Together, along with our allies, we are right now enforcing powerful economic sanctions.

We're cutting off Russia's largest bank to the international financial system,

preventing Russia's central bank from defending the Russian rubble,

making Putin $630 billion dollar war fund worthless.
