This is the Daily Tech News for Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025. We tell you what you need to know,

0:10.1

give you some of the important context, and help each other understand. Now, listen,

0:14.2

AWS Reinvent is happening, and we got a lot to say about it, but today the trifold

0:19.0

smartphone era has officially begun. I mean,

0:22.6

Huawei's like it already began, but Samsung entered the chat. That's big news.

0:26.6

That's big news. I'm Jason Howell. I'm Tom Merritt.

0:29.2

Let's start with what you need to know with a big story.

0:34.9

That's right. Samsung has entered the room and unveiled the Galaxy Z trifold. As it sounds,

0:43.0

it is a triple panel foldable smartphone, a trifold phone that opens into a 10-inch tablet-like display.

0:50.6

Pretty much, I mean, a 10-inch tablet. Like like that's huge when it's unfolded. I can't wait

0:54.5

1:08.9

different sizes? Well, that accommodates the fact that each panel

1:11.7

varies in thickness from 3.9 millimeters up to 4.2 millimeters at its thickest. I think the center panel

1:20.6

is that thickest one. The side panels actually fold inward to cover the center fold.

1:29.6

So it doesn't fold like the letter Z.

1:33.5

I think Huawei has a triple trifold that does that.

1:36.4

In this case, both panels fold inward. And Samsung says that the main display, quote,

1:39.4

undergoes a 200,000 cycle multi-folding test equivalent to folding the device approximately 100 times a day for five years.

1:48.2

So totally normal, right?

1:49.8

That's what I do in a day.

1:51.4

That's what I do in a single day.
