Survivor.

And nothing personal word of the day is survivor as in the reality show.

As in the show I was on.

I wanted to talk to you because survivor as it turns out is one of the things that is

most often asked when people meet me whether I'm giving a speech or I meet people on the

street or in a restaurant or people come up to me to talk to me.

Sometimes they talk baseball, no doubt about it.

Sometimes nothing personal.

But very often the question is you were on survivor.

You're that guy from survivor.

Yes, I am that guy.

The story of survivor for me is one of the great stories of sticking to it, having high

expectations, over promising, under delivering and never regretting a single thing.

Survivor started in 2000.

I was with the Montreal Expose and our home games were played in Canada, Olympic Stadium.

It premiered on a Thursday night back in 2000.

It was a mid-season replacement.

And the interesting thing is that I was working with an assistant GM named Larry Bindfest

to end up being our GM and then president of baseball operations for the World Series

winning Marlins in 03.

He had been with the Mariners and Jim Beatty had hired him to come to Montreal because
