In some circles recently, it has become rather trendy to say that New Testament Christians

do not need the Old Testament.

May I just pause today and say it's impossible to be a New Testament Christian without Old Testament

truth?

You see, the New Testament builds on the foundation that's laid in the Old Testament.

As a matter of fact, when you start studying the New Testament,

you're going to have a very difficult time understanding it

if you don't understand the foundation that the Lord laid from the beginning of time.

One example of that is in the life of Samson. We've been studying the

life of this strong man of the Bible. This man who had to learn that the secret of true strength

was not in him, it was in the Lord. A man who had to learn how to trade his weakness for God's

strength. And isn't that the same lesson we all have to learn

over and over again? The verse comes to my mind now where the psalmist says, he weakeneth my strength

in the way. I don't know about you, but there's never been a single morning that I've gotten out

of bed and said, oh, Lord, weaken my strength today. No, but many mornings I pray, dear Lord, help me be strong today.

Why does God weaken our strength?

Well, he weakens our strength because he doesn't want us in our strength.

He wants us in his strength.

And the only way to get you to God's strength is that first he has to get you to your weakness. You see,
