Welcome to another bonus episode of Calm History, an extra treat for my Sok Plus members.

This is the story of the Pilgrims, first Thanksgiving at Plymouth Colony.

Now for this episode, I won't be blabbing on about their journey on the Mayflower,

their landing at Plymouth Rock, their meet cute with Squanto,

or explaining all of their weapons and armor,

because I already covered all of that in bonus episode number 36.

Instead, this episode is just about a single meal that the pilgrims had with the

indigenous Wampanog tribe.

Hmm, but that way, this episode sounds kind of boring.

Who wants to listen to Pilgrims chew their food and make small talk?

Oh, don't worry, I'll be tackling all the heart-hitting questions in this episode, such as,

did they sit around a large table when eating the big feast?

Did they really eat turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie?

Did they make creepy, adult-sized dolls out of corn and give them a seat at the dinner

table? Why were the pilgrims so horrible at hunting deer? Why didn't they allow bowling or theatrical plays at their first Thanksgiving?

Did they almost snub the Wampanog and not even invite them to their big feast?

And I'll also tell you about some other strange things, like pudding fermenti, pilgrim flesh pies,

and why you crave turkey leftovers.

In the near future, I'll do another bonus episode about the life and customs of the Wampanak tribe,

so you can learn more about the indigenous people who shared the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims.
