Hello again, I'm Orin-Aulney, and this is To the Poet from Public Radio International.

A daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

The arguments are over. Now the justices have a plateful of options to consider before a

decision that's expected in June. Will they uphold California's Proposition 8, which banned

same-sex marriage? Will they rule that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right?

Since Californians voted five years ago, public opinion has

shifted. Will a court majority leave the issue up to different voters in different states?

We'll hear excerpts from both sides, learn what the justices wanted to know, get analysis,

and maybe a brave prediction or two. On reporter's notebook later on, Bad News for the future of scientific research in the United

States.
