All right. Well, most people did not think the Bears were be drafting a tight end this year.

And maybe they wouldn't had Nate Byham, who's finishing his third year as the Stanford

tight end coach. He's now also in his first year as the Andrew Luck director of offense.

Perhaps Sam Rosh wouldn't be a Chicago bear without you, Nate. We appreciate you making time.

What should Bears fans be most

excited about Sam? Let's kick it off there. What do you love most about this player? Yeah, I mean,

on the field, he's about one of those physical presence, the most physical presence you're going to get,

especially from the tight end position. He's ridiculously twitchy. He has such a great first step. You see that

in his broad jump and his first 10 yards of the 40 and his vertical. I mean, he has twitch that most

267 pound tight ends do not have, which really helps him in the run game and gets some firing

off the ball. And that's on the field. Off the field, I mean, he's a plus human and the city's going to

love him. He's a great kid. So I'm kind of mad at myself, honestly, Nate, because you really

look at his background. We're talking about a computer science guy. He plays tight end. He blocks well.

I mean, this guy had Ben Johnson written all over him in hindsight here. So I'm a little bit,

I'm a little mad that he wasn't more on on our radar going into this thing. But, you know,

a lot of things there fit. What we've learned about Ben Johnson in a year being around him as the head

coach here in Chicago.

What do you think about that fit and how Sam will mix him? Because I could already just see him. I don't want to say teacher's pet here, but man, Ben Johnson is going to love this guy. Yeah, he's literally a perfect fit for this offense. You know, when Ben was in Detroit, I was like, man, you would fit that offense. Well, then when he came there, got Colston, you know, you have these pieces falling together and the offense looked great. I'm like, he's going to fit into that offense great with those other tight ends with Cole and Colston. They're going to be studs together. I mean, this kid, you know, it's West Coast football. People don't like to stay up late all the time and catch all those games so i think a lot of people kind of slept on them um and you know obviously with our

record and being late night games and a lot of people watch this kid's film and then you watch

the scouts absolutely love and they come in and they drooled over him because of his ability to

twitch off the ball again most tight ends that size do not have

that first step. And it's, you know, it's, it's very rare. And like you said, computer science
