The great Sam J. She's a stand-up comic, she was a writer for Saturday Night Live, she

co-created the sitcom The Bust Down, and she's also the host of the HBO talk show, Paws.

Paws is a really special series, each episode usually starts at Sam's apartment, or at least

a set that looks like Sam's apartment.

She's hosting a party hanging out with her pals.

And on every episode they talk something through, usually a tough topic, often something

that's close to home for Sam, queerness or intersectionality, prison, fidelity.

I don't think anyone enjoys being told what I do.

I think we're really too, we live in a country where they promise you that.

We learn a little bit of culture where they're like, you can do whatever you want to do.

That is a promise that you do it.

It's a promise that you do it.

And then you're a tough topic.

a lot earlier in life, and you're seeing other people do things that are telling you

you can't.
