Today we want to bring you some new information and add some dimensions to the story you heard in that first season.

Our focus in that first season was on Isaiah Nixon, 28 years old, a son, a husband, a father of six children,

a black farmer in rural Georgia who was killed in 1948 by two white men because he dared to vote.

And in those stories, you heard from Mr. Nixon's wife Sally and even more so from his daughter Dorothy.

Today our focus is on Isaiah Nixon's widow Sally Nixon, a woman about five foot one in stature, but large in spirit, strength and willpower.

Sally Mama, that's the confection her children and grandchildren always use when they speak of her.

Sally Mama, this past April on the anniversary of Isaiah Nixon's death, Sally had lived 72 years after he died.

She'd outlived her two husbands and most of her children.
