I'm your host, Claire, and I'm so glad you're here. In today's St. Spotlight, we are talking about Saint Catary Tequigwitha.

St. Catary was an Algonquin Mohawk laywoman from New York who lived during the 1600s and we are speaking to

Lena from her shrine all about her life and legacy. I first learned about St. Caterie, you'll hear us discuss her name in this

episode. I first learned about her as a focus missionary and I had no idea that there was an indigenous woman from the Americas who had become a

Catholic saint.

So ever since then, I've been fascinated by her life and pray through her and I'm excited for you guys to learn a little more about this strong Catholic

feminist today.

I'm so excited to have you on to chat with us about St. Catrie. Can you introduce yourself to our audience?

Sure. My name is Laina Marr. I am from Fond in New York, the home of the National

Cadre Shrine. I'm very fortunate to live so close to a wonderful,

holy and peaceful place. Myself, I serve on the advisory council at the shrine.
