Today we celebrate the solemnity of St. Joseph, that faithful steward of the household of God.

He was chosen as the foster father of Jesus on earth and as the husband of Mary.

What an amazing privilege he received. What an amazing call of God. In the Gospel of today's Mass, we read how he received

that call. Matthew writes, Now the origin of Christ was in this way.

When Mary, his mother, had been betrothed to Joseph before they came together, she was found

to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

But Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not wishing to expose her to reproach, was minded to put her
