Practical safeguards about receiving personal prophecy. Now, when it comes to prophecy, it's a gift of the Holy Spirit that the Holy Spirit uses in his yielded vessels to encourage, also to rebuke, and sometimes even to predict of what is going to happen.

Prophetic in the church a lot of times has been abused and has been used to manipulate other people.

First time that I've seen this happen when I was a youth pastor.

A young man who was in about 16 years of age

felt like he was a prophet. So he comes up to a girl and tells her that he is her husband. They're

16. The poor girl freaks out. She starts crying. And so I'm dropping this kid off home and he

tells me he knows who his wife is going to be. At the time I was about like 23 was about like 23 years of age or 22 years away, so I'm like, wow, 16 years of age and you're already hearing God who your wife is going to be? I'm like, you're not even ready for marriage. And then he says, well, my other prophets, my friends, confirmed that. And I was like, wow, that's interesting. I see him talking to the same girl that chews out he gave a prophetic word a week before.

And she's interesting. The next service, I see him talking to the same girl that shows out he gave a prophetic word a week before. And she's crying. I come up to the girl and I was like, hey, you know, I wonder, what does this guy talk to you? I'm like, I don't mean to stick my nose into your business, but I'm a youth pastor and I see you crying after he talked to you. Is everything okay? She's like, this guy is a stalker and he's giving me these words that I am his wife.

And I'm like, do you like him?

And she's like, this guy is a stalker and he's giving me these words

that I am his wife. And I'm like, do you like him? And she's like, no, this guy's a creep. So of course, I talked to him and I said, listen, if you ever do that again, you know, you're going to suffer very, very bad consequences. And I'm like, bad stuff's going to happen to you pretty much in a nutshell. I was very angry, extremely upset.

And that was my first time

seeing how people claimed to have prophetic words and actually were abusing other people. I mean,

but this is nothing new. This is happening today, especially with the rise of prophetic ministries

online and everywhere. I mean, I can't tell you how many people fell for scammers who promised them prophetic words

and then gave thousands of dollars away. It turns out that they were scammed. And how many people also,

I know who prophesied under mushrooms who actually go and take some other stuff and then they

give prophetic words. And it's a very big mixture between the prophecy in some of those cases and the spirit of

divination, the spirit of just predicting that Python spirit. And so I don't want to create this
