Exodus chapter 35, verse 29.

All the men and women, the people of Israel,

whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work

that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done,

brought it as a free will offering to the Lord.

I'll make sure we understand what's happening here, and it's a theme that's all throughout Exodus

chapter 35. So we're seeing the construction of the tabernacle, this place where the glory of God will dwell among his people.

And this part of Exodus, specifically Exodus chapter 35, is mostly focused on contributions for the tabernacle.

And when you look at Old Testament giving as a whole, you see God commanding certain offerings

at different points, first fruit offerings, tides, those sorts of things.

At the same time, you also see what are called free will offerings.

And that's what's happening here in verse 29.

These are offerings that are brought as a free will

offering to the Lord, which basically means it's up to God's people. How much they will give and what way

they will give. There's a, there's a picture of just free to give as much as you desire.

And I love the phrase here.
