My presentation proceeds in three movements which correspond to the title sacraments, grace, and ethics.

It also focuses on what I would call the metaphysics of the Catholic religion.

We will look at the structure of the church's profession of faith,

and so leave aside the experiential and expressivist aspects of Christian living that occupied

today almost exclusively the attention of commentators, theological or otherwise.

Instead, I aim to illuminate the distinctive way God saves the world in Christ.

We begin with the concrete and indispensable mediations or instruments of salvation,

the sacraments of the church, and then examine briefly how divine grace takes hold of the human

person's body and soul composite, and finally the effect that union with Christ produces

in human actions. Obviously, this overview excludes many details of dogmatic and moral theology

for those who are left unsatisfied with the presentation's brevity.

about the three topics that I now treat. Afterwards, I'll happily entertain questions

is associated with this topic which is so broad it means about anything one sacraments
