If you'll give them a little credit, a little agency, they meant it as rye social

commentary. They are mocking. They are criticizing. They are interrogating the concepts of boorish

rock star, sexism, and brainless frat boy kegstand misanthropy by embodying these concepts they throw an extra stupid party

to underscore the vapid stupidity of all the partying they become the stupid thing and cleverly

heightened this stupid thing and deliver such an over-the-top exaggeration of the stupid thing that

it's clear to everybody how stupid the thing is and also

how stupid they think the thing is, right? The video especially for MTV, let's make the video

so stupid, so crass, so exploitative, so sophomoric that nobody can miss the point that

the dudes on screen who are pretending to revel in all this crass

sophomoric exploitation the dudes on screen are really cleverly making fun of that sort of exploitation

that's the idea that's the joke you watching mtv you get the joke they the joke, you get that they get the joke.

But that's where it really got fucked up.
