Investigative journalist Delia DeAbras set out to solve a murder, and in the process may have uncovered a

wrongful conviction after connecting two murders in her hometown. Delia is the host of the

Counter-Clock podcast, and she began her investigation with the 1997 murder of a woman named Denise

Johnson. Denise was found murdered inside of her home on the outer banks of North Carolina.

To this day, her case remains unsolved. But Delia didn't stop there.

Last year she continued on with season two of Counter-Clock by investigating another

Outer Banks murder. Stacey Stanton was murdered on February 3rd 1990. Her case, though,

unlike Denise's, was supposedly solved almost immediately. A man named Clifton Spencer was arrested

and convicted about a year later. But did he actually kill Stacey Stanton?

Finding connections between the two cases the Repodcast has led Delia to believe that Clifton

may have been wrongfully convicted, and the same man may be responsible for bold murders.

Delia is here with me today to explain how her process of moving Counter-Clock wise through time

has helped to get us closer to finding justice for Stacey and Denise.

It's great to meet you on Zoom. This is new for me. I'm learning slowly how to use

the technology everybody else has been using forever. The first, I don't know, 12 episodes of

this season. I did all over the phone and then people kept suggesting Zoom and I thought it was
