A few months ago I texted my friend Chris and didn't hear back for several days, which was weird.

Was he ignoring me?

Well, it turns out he was in London,

and his trip got complicated.

I went to a restaurant called the Dutch Pancake House because who doesn't love a good Dutch pancake when they're in London?

And my phone was in my coat pocket and my coat was draped over the chair and I'm sitting and eating and a woman comes up to me

she's quite frantic, needs my help and her children need my help and I'm just like overwhelmed by this all my mouth is full of Dutch pancake and I finally am able to sort of convince her that I can't help her

After this woman leaves Chris goes to grab his phone,

and it's gone.

He'd been scammed.

I just froze up a moment.

I think because I was in shock,

I went into stealth mode of like I need to get back to my

hotel so I can get on my laptop and I can do find my phone and I can shut off my phone

report it as lost, take Apple pay off of it.

But the first thing I needed to do is try to get back to my hotel because I didn't have a phone

and it can be directions anymore. In that moment I was just sort of like, this is the first time that I felt like

helpless in a city. In the end, Chris was fine. He found his hotel and eventually got home to Massachusetts.

It was all very annoying, but Chris would be the first to admit.

It's also a first world problem.

You see, Chris has gotten very good at navigating the planet alone.

He's learned how to enjoy experiences by himself, but also how to just roll with it
