Santa Clarita, a city I lived in for three years back in 2011 through 2014, is a city with

many great tales.

On season 8 episode 2, I had the pleasure of interviewing Evan Decker, the president

of Mintryville, California, Inc., a non-profit that is fundraising to restore the Mintryville

buildings to the time period of their heyday and open them to the public for tours.

And along with this responsibility, Evan also works in other locations around Santa Clarita,

and has had many experiences at different places, such as Heritage Junction, the William

S. Heart Mansion, you name it.

So naturally, Evan has had stories at these other locations, which I saved for this episode.

The first place we will touch base on is the William S. Heart Mansion, I did an Instagram

roll on this place a while back, so it is only fitting for me to reintroduce the story

and the history of this particular place.

Silent film superstar William S. Heart had built a Spanish style mansion called La Loma

De Los Vientos on his 254 acre horseshoe ranch in Newhall in 1927.

The 22 room house was commissioned to the Los Angeles architect Arthur Kelly to build

a Spanish style mansion on the ranch.

The name La Loma De Los Vientos means Hill of the Winds.

The mansion was designed to accommodate Hart's wheelchair-bound sister, Mary Ellen, who

had exterior access from her second story bedroom.

But sadly, she would pass away in 1943 and William would pass away himself in 1946,

only three years later.

Now in his will, Hart let this new hall estate to the people of the Los Angeles County,
