Welcome to Live Well Anyway. I'm your host, Mackenzie Kappa. On this podcast, we journey together

0:10.6

and learning how to feel healthy, look good, and plan lives we actually like in the midst of all the

0:15.7

everyday chaos. I'm so glad you're here. And today, I have Jennifer Michelle Greenberg on the show talking about her

0:22.2

brand new book, Defiant Joy. I was really attracted to this book because Jennifer comes from a

0:27.5

history of abuse and all kinds of hardships that she's experienced in her life, but she's been able to

0:33.1

look at having joy in the midst of those things from a really fresh perspective. I think a lot of times,

0:39.4

especially in Christian culture, we get a little lost and we're supposed to just be happy or have

0:45.8

this sort of almost toxic positivity all the time. And Jennifer kind of flips the script on all of that

0:50.8

and gives a really refreshing look at what it really means to live through

0:54.4

difficult things and to deal with those things and to handle our anger and justifiable feelings

1:00.2

that we go through as we are experiencing these things. I really loved her take on it. I found

1:05.0

it to be very biblically grounded, but also very hopeful and incredibly real. So I hope you're going to enjoy this episode. But before we

1:14.4

get there, I would just like to say that we are about to start a brand new month. March is coming

1:20.3

in just a couple of days. I know, I can't believe it myself, that we are already almost two full

1:25.5

months into the new year. And I am starting to feel like,

1:30.6

you know, the last two months, the last few months of the darkness and the cold, they've been

1:35.1

very draining. We've talked about it on the podcast even, but now there's like hope of spring.

1:41.3

There's more light. Things are starting to warm up just the tiniest bit,

1:46.2

at least in my neck of the woods. And it feels like the chance to start new things, to kind of

1:52.4

rehash some of these goals that maybe we started at the new year and then they didn't really

1:57.1

work because we were like tired and it was dark and you know that happens so we are

2:02.8

looking at refreshing our routines getting back on that horse making sure that we can move into the
