Hell is a literal place. He's talking about a place where you're going and thrown into.

You will be thrown into hell. Your whole body will go into hell. Notice what he doesn't say.

He doesn't say this is a trip to hell with a stopover in purgatory. Doesn't say that.

In fact, you'll never find purgatory in the Bible at all.

That was a later addition in 1245 at the first council of Lyon.

They made it popular in 1543-ish, 1545 in that period with the Council of Trent.

And basically, the reason they doubled down on purgatory is so they could fund the building

of the Catholic Church through indulgences.

If you don't take my word for it, go look it up.

Notice what Jesus doesn't say.

It's better for you to lose a member of your family than to spend millions of years in

purgatory.

Is that what he says?

No.

He says, it's better for you to cut off your hand and enter heaven than to be thrown into hell.

So the question for us is this.

How do we respond to adultery?

How do we respond and keep ourselves from immorality?

And the answer is we need to nip it in the bud mentally, attitude, intellect, the way we think,
