In 1981, Steve Nix released the album Bella Donna, featuring the iconic song, Edge of 17. The song's title The song's title

came from a conversation

that Stevie Nix had with Tom Petty's wife, Jane.

She had asked Jane about first meeting Tom,

and she responded they met at the age of 17.

But based upon Jane's thick Florida accent, Stevie thought she had said, the edge of 17.

The song started by being about what Stevie imagined Jane and Tom were like when they were

17 years old. But after both John Lennon and Stevie's own uncle John had died, it became a song about sadness and helplessness in the wake of the loss of a loved one.

In many ways, Edge of 17 could be the theme song for the Amanda Lewis case.

Superficially, there's the thick Florida accent you've heard throughout this season.

And then, there's the sadness and helplessness that Amanda's had based upon losing three children,

two to death, and AJ to what you'll hear about this episode.

And then there's the 17 of it all.

It's been 17 years since Amanda's murder trial.

17 years served in a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

17 years of wrongful conviction. But beyond that, there's the original basis for the song.

panhandle of Florida, shopping at the local supermarket, when you overheard two police officers

talking about a case, a mother who had drowned her daughter in the family pool. Then, imagine
