Well, this is Pints with Jack, season six, episode 42, the Lions World, after hours with the most reverend Rowan Williams. Welcome everyone. Here on Pints with Jack, we're reading our way through the works of

C.S. Lewis. And this is an episode recorded in part for Narnia Month, and so we're delighted to be

joined by Rowan Williams. Our merriment, Lewis says, in weight of glory,

exists between people who have from the outset taken each other seriously. Rowan Williams pays

Lewis and in his book The Lion's World, Narnia in particular, the crucial compliment of taking

him seriously. And in so doing, Williams helps us to take God more seriously and offers

deep insights into what it means to be humans, to be Christians, and to be disciples. What a welcome

event. Well, today I'm joined by Rowan Williams. He was the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury.

The author of dozens of books, Williams is rightly

considered one of the preeminent Christian theologians of our century.

And of particular interest to our listeners, Williams is a long-time devotee to the works of

the Inklings, and in particular C.S. Lewis. Before he retired, he was master of Modlin College, Cambridge, Lewis's old college,

and that is where I met him 10 years ago during the celebration of Lewis's 50th anniversary of his

passing. It's a great honor and a personal pleasure to have him with us. Welcome, Rowan Williams.
