For many of us in this latter half of the 20 teens or whatever you call the decade we're in,

a platform is an essential part of our investing.

But like all aspects of our financial lives, we should make sure that our chosen platform and the wrappers we hold on it continue to serve our purposes.

That's what we're going to be talking about this week.

Now, back when I started as a financial advisor, there were no such things, really, as platforms.

The first fund supermarkets arrived around about the time I got into this world.

You know, they were fairly simple, but systems whereby you could access funds from lots of different fund houses in one place, and maybe you could have an ICA and a GIA on there, a general investment account. These subsequently were followed by, you know, the very capable systems that we've got now, where you can have multiple tax wrappers, complex reporting tools, all that sort of stuff.

So these days, you know, there's not many of us really invest directly with the fund providers.
