an uprising in 1961 kicked off the colonial war in Angola, Portugal's army versus native

nationalists, which stretched from the early 1960s into the mid-70s.

Angolanes were sick of living in an apartheid system, working in a barely disguised forced labor system,

and watching other African countries win their independence in real time.
