Summary

Welcome to the Live Well Anyway Podcast (formerly Cultivating the Lovely) with MacKenzie Koppa! Today on the show, MacKenzie chats with Myquillyn Smith about her newest book, Welcome Home. They talk about creating a home that you can use to welcome people in and make them feel seen and loved. Myquillyn shares her story of finding ways to honor the seasons in her home without going overboard with consumerism. MacKenzie brings in the idea of hygge for all the seasons, not just winter. They both talk about using all five senses to shift the environment and atmosphere of the home. Myquillyn encourages us to do a few little things to get ready for each season so that we feel confident in hosting people.

Welcome to Live Well Anyway. I'm your host, Mackenzie Kappa, formerly of cultivating the

lovely, but on this podcast, we focus on wellness, beauty, style, planning, and life. I feature a fun

0:15.6

mix of guests who I've invited, as well as some hopefully helpful and humorous solo shows

0:20.5

centered on things I've

0:21.7

learned in my own life. And you guys, today is one of those style shows. I am so excited about this

0:29.1

because I have been spursing up my house lately. I've been doing my bedroom because it was kind of

0:34.5

the last room in our house to do things with and make feel homey,

0:39.2

but I've also been adding a few touches to our living room and our dining room.

0:43.0

And trying to really press into making it a home, especially as we don't get to be outside

0:46.9

as much, heading into the fall.

0:48.7

I wanted some indoor space that could be a retreat.

0:52.0

And I really feel like I've honed in on what my style is, which is

0:55.2

really fun. It's very cozy minimalist. It's very boho-sheek, Scandinavian sort of my own thing.

1:03.1

And I really, really like it. And it's been so fun to press into that and find pieces that

1:08.7

align with that. And I am showing all that coming up

1:11.4

in some YouTube videos and you can also find some pictures and links and blog posts on my website.

1:17.0

If you go to mackenziecapa.com, I've got some fun things that I have been adding over there,

1:22.0

so be sure you don't miss it. And if you really want to make sure that you're not missing out

1:26.0

on things, plus just hear some funny, insightful things from me, from the week every Friday, Saturday, I am sending

1:34.2

out a newsletter called, well, anyway, and it's just kind of a behind the scenes glimpse of

1:39.8

some of the things that are going on in my life. And I would really love to welcome you guys

1:44.0

over into that space. And I do really love to welcome you guys over into that
