Summary

The United States just captured Venezuela's dictator, and we needed to get some quick voter reactions. Is this REALLY what the newest members of Trump's coalition voted for? We're also sensing growing discontent from them with the state of the country, and with the Trump administration governing more for its friends than for them. Atlantic staff writer Jonathan Chait joins the show to break down voter sentiment nearly a year into Trump's term.

And this week, we're going to talk about swing voters again, because as you know, we've spent the last year periodically taking the pulse of

0:21.7

these swing voters on the Trump administration. And let me tell you, what a difference a year makes.

0:27.3

The swing voters we're going to hear today are about as sour on Trump as they have been since he

0:32.3

retook office. But the reasons why are varied and sometimes unexpected, but there's a lot less, hey, we need to wait

the recent developments in Venezuela. And it's not going to surprise you that what is happening

0:52.5

right now is not the America First that some people voted for.

friend of the bork. Jonathan, how you doing? Good and likewise to you, and I'm so excited to hear

1:07.3

that swing voters are good now. I've spent years listening to the show,

1:11.6

1:17.1

Yes. And I'm excited for a different experience. Yeah, you are in good standing with our audience.

1:22.0

I would say that's an extremely common reaction is anger at an extreme level at folks, especially the swing voters, because

1:30.8

unlike the Maga Faithful, they're like just rational enough. Like they've thought it through.

1:36.1

Like what makes them swing voters is that they've given it more than just a tribal thought

1:41.2

and where they land is very frustrating to people. Yes.

1:44.3

But first, before we listen to the voters, I want to just ask you a couple of things as an

1:48.5

observer of politics.

1:49.9

Because as we've expected, the second Trump administration has been a torrent of bad news,

1:56.0

ridiculous, blundering, outrages, and things that just make you go, what is happening right now?
