Summary

When 18-year-old Amanda Davies returned from a cross-country spring break road trip in April of 1992, her parents breathed a huge sigh of relief. What no one could have predicted was that the real danger was waiting for Amanda at home, and that before she could even unpack her suitcase, she'd be gone forever. As authorities searched frantically for Amanda, and then for her murderer, her tight-knit friend group, known as The Circle, began to wonder if there might be a killer among them.

Hey friends, real quick before we get into this week's episode, I noticed only during editing,

0:06.0

of course, that several times during the episode, I say 1991 when all of these things

0:14.0

happened in 1992. The only time I actually mean to say 1991 is when I'm referring to the year

0:20.1

that Amanda Davies graduated.

0:21.8

She graduated in 1991, but all of the big stuff that I'm going to talk about in the episode

0:26.6

happened in 1992.

0:28.4

I don't know why it happened.

0:30.0

I don't know why I did it, but I'm not going to go back and re-record an entire hour-long

0:34.1

episode to fix it.

0:35.3

So just know that in almost every case, when you hear me say 1991 today, I do mean

0:41.4

1992.

0:43.8

Sorry.

0:46.1

Not all monsters are myths.

0:50.9

This is Michigan Monsters.

0:53.4

A true crime god. This is Michigan Monsters.

0:58.6

A true crime gothic.

1:08.5

Hey there. Welcome to Michigan, where the lakes are salt-free, the monsters are human, and the small towns are full of secrets.

1:12.5

I'm Jen Carpenter, and today we're going to revisit a case that we talked about way back in season one, the unsolved murder of Amanda Davies. If you listen to the last

1:20.3

episode, I mentioned that there are some cases that I would like to revisit, as the coverage

1:24.6

previously provided on them was maybe like a bit rushed or a bit incomplete,

1:29.5

no more so than on that crossover episode that we did in season one where there were five of us

1:35.2

each trying to share the story of a local unsolved case in one single episode.
