The V10 era of Formula One lasted for 17 seasons, which, as you'd hopefully agree, after six series of this podcast, has given us plenty of things to talk about from 1989 to 2005. And we

won't be stopping any time soon. However, we also fancied doing something a little different to end

this series. And that was to have a debate or argument, depending on your perspective, to come up

with the list of the 10 greatest cars of the V10 era.

To narrow it down before we even started, we've limited the cars we can choose from to

drivers championship winners. Then today's guests, Ed Straw, Matt Beer and Ben Anderson,

and me, Glenn Freeman, created our own top tens from those 17 cars.

Those lists have been combined and scored using the current F1 point system,

because as much as we all love the era of 10 points for a win,

only giving out points to the top six or the top eight, as they did in the V10 era,

will be no use to us here.

Our guests haven't seen each other's lists or the final rankings,

so they'll be reacting to it live as we record this.

Now, a new show format and everyone else on the show,

having no idea what's coming, makes it quite challenging to come up of an opening question

for this episode. So let's show some love to the cars which were ineligible for consideration. Ben, I'm

going to throw this to you first. If we go for non-title winning cars from this era, if they were

eligible, which car would you have been arguing perhaps for inclusion in the top 10?

Well, my heart wanted to go for the 1995 Ferrari, just because I thought it looked amazing,

sounded amazing, and because Michael Schumacher said it was good enough to win the world

championship after he tested it.
