Summary

"Would you rather have a dead daughter or a living son?" That's what Chloe Cole's psychiatrist asked her parents when they sought guidance about her pursuit of "gender transition." Well, Chloe did transition, until she realized the devastating consequences of this choice. I'm grateful to talk with Chloe this week as she shares her story of transition, detransition, and meeting Jesus.

Truth Rising is a new documentary from the Colson Center and Focus on the Family. It features Chloe Cole's testimony along with other powerful stories. The film points to the reality that truth is not subjective—Jesus is the Truth who brings freedom and life. Watch the full documentary at truthrising.com.

Welcome to Season 6, everyone. I'm so glad you're here. Thanks for coming back, and I've got a great lineup for you guys this season. So stick around with us.

Before we jump into today's conversation, I want to give you a little context. One thing I've been thinking a lot about is that Christians throughout every generation have had some sort of dominant lie that is kind of assumed in the culture that they

0:23.5

are called to discern and address. And not only that, but these lies tend to take victims with it,

0:32.0

like in our own day, which we're going to get to in just a minute. But I want to give you an example.

0:36.5

Okay. So in ancient Rome,

0:38.4

during the early church time, abortion and infanticide were common practices, especially with baby

0:44.8

girls. They were not valued. Often they were left out to exposure, which is basically like

0:50.7

left to die to the elements. Well, the church did not approve, as you can imagine,

0:57.6

because the church saw the value in every human life. And so these Christians would go out

1:03.6

to these fields where these baby girls were left to exposure and they would rescue them

1:08.7

and they would basically adopt them and raise them up in their

1:12.5

families in the church. Well, fast forward a generation and now you've got a bunch of pagan Roman

1:18.4

men who don't have enough women. I think there was like 100 women to every 140 men or something

1:24.5

like that. Was not enough women. So where did they have to look?

1:29.3

They had to look in the church.

1:31.3

So the early church actually practiced missionary dating, which I'm not recommending.

1:35.7

I'm just saying the facts.

1:37.5

Anyway, this spread Christianity big time in the Roman Empire.

1:42.1

Because Christians were grounded in the truth that all humans have dignity,

1:48.6

because they are made in the image of God. This is a uniquely Christian gift to the world.

1:54.7

They valued that and they brought up these little lives to love Jesus in the church.

2:03.4

Well, what are the lies that we're faced with today? We're faced with so many. But as Christians, we're called to discern the truth from the
