And with the majority of people in opposition, the communist government turned to

violent tactics that lived tens of thousands dead. And what came next would be decades of displaced

refugees seeking safety in a new place to call home. Zora's father, a freedom fighter, would move

his family from country to country before finally fleeing to the United States.

My parents fled their country because of the war that was going on.

At that time, my mom had a two-year-old, so she would travel a wave.

And then my father, who was actually a freedom fighter for his country, he would then go and meet up with her.

They ended up in a few different countries.

And then my mom had my brother who's actually 11 months and two weeks older than me.
