The Fulton State game area somehow manages to be both a very large area and at the same time, also a very small one.

It has vast, inaccessible expanses of swamp and woodland that you can get lost in if you're not careful.

But during hunting season, well, the place can start to feel very small indeed.

We call that the pumpkin patch.

The year before, we had actually hunted here and actually was the other side of the road here.

And when daylight hit, all you could see was along, here's the field.

Man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, and we're all orange.

Yes.

And everybody, if a deer run, if a deer, and it actually did, ma'am, a deer come out, and it

rode, and it ran right out here.

And she was safe as it could be because we would all shot at each other. Nobody could shoot because everybody was facing each other.

On Saturday, November 17, 1990,

on the day the Jim Bennett and Dougastas were killed,

the pumpkin patch was crawling with hunters.

And while working on this case,

I've tried to track down as many of them as I can find,

tried to pinpoint where they were and when,

and what they may have seen or

not seen, and what they drove to get there.

Basically, I have tried to reconstruct as much as I can, the movements of all the people

and vehicles going in and out of the game area and surrounding streets on a single afternoon
