What if the most fantastical stories people tell really were true?

What if our understanding of reality is limited to what we've been taught to believe

is truth and fact? What if the lines were blurrier? What if the places we went to in dreams

really exist in some other dimension we can only access during REM sleep? What if the hallucinations,

people who are deemed mentally ill, are real, and those of us

with so-called healthy brains can't see them because our eyes aren't open to that reality?

What if the veil between realities could be lifted? Imagine the stories we would all have.

Welcome to strange and unexplained with me, Daisy Egan.

I have had vivid dreams all my life.

In these dreams, there are places that I visit again and again

that don't, to my knowledge, exist in real life.

Usually, it's the neighborhood in Brooklyn in which I grew up,

but it's pockets of the neighborhood I don't recognize and don't know,

so I end up getting lost on my way back to my childhood home.

Why has my brain created these places?

But I've also had dreams that felt so real that when I've realized in the middle of them

that I am in fact dreaming, I am extremely confused. I dreamt recently that I was standing in the

kitchen of the house I grew up in making coffee. My husband and my parents were there. As I made the

coffee, I thought about taking a cup out to the backyard to enjoy the garden my parents had curated over the 40-plus years they'd lived there. It was in that moment that I remembered something about astro-turf. Astro-Turf? Wait, there's Astro-Turf where my mother's chives and strawberries were.
