Mary from ATX writes in, hey, Dave and John Robertson from Vanity Fair, there was some discussion last week about how Varys could be backing Danny now after having played a role in Roberts' regime sending the wine merchant to poison her based on Jorah's reports.

It seems to me that Varys is duplicitous enough to want to save Viserys and Danny while still supporting Robert at least at first.

Robert, while a bad king, had good hands to guide him in John Aaron and Ned.

Varys could afford to wait and see how the Targaryen siblings would turn out so long as that was the case.
