| 0:00.0 | Hey, you're listening to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. We're so glad you're joining |
| 0:09.5 | us for another day. If you're counting, today is day number 95 of reading through scripture. |
| 0:15.6 | Whether you've made it every day, one through 95 consistently, or maybe you're doing day 95 on day 125. That's |
| 0:23.9 | okay. We're just so glad you're still reading with us. And today we're going to be wrapping up |
| 0:27.6 | the book of 2nd Samuel with chapters 22 through 24. CJ, we made it. We've made it. Samuel, long |
| 0:35.5 | books, lots going on, complicated text. but here we are at the end of these |
| 0:40.4 | two books. Yeah. Luckily, I think the ending is pretty simple for us, so I think we've made it |
| 0:44.6 | through all the complex characters and plots and whatnot. So in Second Samuel 22 and 23, |
| 0:50.2 | David sings two songs, which is obviously pretty fitting for David, being the song guy. |
| 0:55.1 | So in 2 Samuel 22, he sings a song of God's deliverance that defines his rescue from evil. |
| 1:02.0 | And then in 2nd Samuel 23, it's David's final song. |
| 1:04.9 | And it describes how God's favor has rest upon David and the Lord has been with him through all these trials and tribulations. |
| 1:11.6 | All right. That's great. So what else is happening in these couple of chapters that would be |
| 1:17.3 | important for us to take note of? Yeah, so in 2nd Samuel 23, we briefly hear about David's mighty men, |
| 1:23.0 | but then we're brought to 2nd Samuel 24, the last chapter, which is a very fitting conclusion, |
| 1:28.5 | and it's an awesome chapter. And I would suggest that this is David's sort of final test, |
| 1:35.5 | as the Lord's anointed, if you will. So I think it shows his growth as a follower of Yahweh |
| 1:41.2 | and as a shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. |
| 1:44.6 | And we'll see why here in a second. |
| 1:47.0 | So at the very beginning of the chapter, we learned that the Lord is angry. |
| 1:50.3 | It says the Lord is angry again and his anger burned against Israel. |
| 1:54.4 | So again, obviously implies that there was some time in the past. |
