Hey, this is Shelby and Scott.

0:07.6

We're walking through the Bible in a year.

0:10.2

We're in Joshua, chapters 10 through 12.

0:14.7

What's going on in these chapters, Scott?

0:16.7

So I was reading these chapters, and I thought about a camp high.

0:21.2

Do you know what I'm referring to?

0:22.3

Yeah. It's like, you know, maybe you go to a camp with your youth group, some kind of retreat. You come back to normal life. You're all like, I'm on fire for Jesus. Yeah, I'm going to change the world. Totally. And then the high kind of just starts to fade as you get settled back in a normal life. and it's not quite exactly the same thing, but I thought about that in this section of Joshua,

0:41.4

because I feel like you've got just some great moments in Joshua, followed by some pretty

0:45.6

low lows.

0:47.3

So in chapters four to six, you had the crossing of the Jordan, they celebrated Passover,

0:52.2

they defeated Jericho.

0:54.1

But then you had Aiken's sin.

0:56.0

You had them getting defeated at A.I. because of that. Then you get another high in chapter A

1:00.5

with this covenant renewal ceremony followed in chapter 9 by a failure, even on Joshua's part,

1:05.6

not to inquire the Lord when the Ghibi Knights deceived them. Yeah. So maybe that's becoming like a little bit of a pattern here.

1:13.8

Yeah. Yeah. Hyes and lows. Yeah. Fortunately, for Israel, what's also a pattern is God's faithfulness to them.

1:21.2

And we see that all over today's chapters, I think. First, one example, once some of the kings in the region hear about Gibbon's treaty with Israel,

1:30.7

they realize they've lost an important ally, and so they attack Gibbyan. And the Israelites, true to the

1:35.9

treaty, they made with them, come to Gibbon's aid, and they defeat these five kings. And so God

1:41.1

uses this treaty to achieve victory over these various kings for Israel.

1:46.7

And then really the rest of the chapters for today swiftly kind of moves through all

1:50.6

Israel's various victories.
