Let us know what you think of this or any

0:21.4

other episode. Scott, yesterday we talked about Bill Dad's second speech and he really focuses in

0:29.3

and we talked about this whole second cycle of speeches is focusing in on the description of

0:33.9

the wicked. But Bill Dad was even implying that Job himself is wicked, that the only

0:40.1

reason he could be suffering is because of his own wickedness. He should blame himself for that.

0:45.1

So today we're going to get into Job's response. What's his response to Bill Dad's take on his

0:50.9

suffering? Yeah. So kind of like he did in chapter 16, he starts by complaining

0:55.9

1:00.2

And here he asked him, how long will you torment me and crush me with words? And so he complains

1:06.0

about them. He talks again about how God's treating him like an enemy. Job's like, hey, I haven't

1:10.3

messed up my life. God has brought this on me. Like, I had nothing him like an enemy. And Job's like, hey, I haven't messed up my life.

1:11.1

God has brought this on me. Like, I had nothing to do with this. And then he tells the friends, look, even if I did sin, it wasn't against you. I didn't sin against you. So back off. And this is the long section in chapter 19 talking about how alone he is. And, you know, Joe didn't mean this to be funny, but I think I find this moment of

1:29.3

levity in chapter 19, verse 17, where he says, my breath is repulsive to my wife. I just think

1:34.0

that's a really funny comment. I don't know why, but it just makes me smile in the midst of a very

1:38.7

sad book. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, there's, there's moments where certainly humor makes its way into these difficult

1:48.3

conversations. Okay, so Elifaz and Beldad have now had their second speeches, which should bring

1:54.2

us to Zofar's second speech. Yeah, and we'll conclude the second cycle of speeches today.
