We have a great episode today.

0:20.0

We're in Second Chronicles 13 through 15.

0:23.2

We spent a lot of time talking about David and then Solomon.

0:27.8

And it seems like someone has pressed the fast forward button.

0:30.6

Like I'm thinking about the VCR that I grew up with in the fast forward button here

0:35.4

because we're starting to go through Kings more rapidly, it seems, Scott. Good, good picture, Shelby. I love that. You and I are from the VCR age, so we can relate. Oh, yes. Good old DHS tapes. 1:15.3

kingdom of Israel. And I love the scene because it actually reminds me of David and Goliath a

1:20.3

little bit, because Abid just facing this huge threat. But then he declares to them, basically,

1:27.0

hey, God is with them. And so even when the northern

1:29.6

king, that's Jeroboam at the time, he ambushes them from behind. We read that Abijah's army

1:34.4

cries out to the Lord, and then God routes Jeroboam. And I love verse 18's commentary that they

1:40.4

succeeded because they depended on the Lord.

1:46.8

And then, man, Abijah's speech is so fantastic because it reinforces something we see throughout Chronicles

1:49.7

that the kingdom belongs to David and its descendants

1:52.4

and that worship can only happen in Jerusalem
