Summary

Merry Christmas! Today, I'm re-airing a favorite episode featuring my friend Haley Stewart. Christmastide is a season of festivity—carols, parties, decorations, and food. But do we understand the real meaning of festivity and its divine origins? In this conversation, Haley offers us a Christian understanding of festivity that begins and ends with who God is and what He's done.

The Church today is often seen as irrelevant. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. At the Colson Center, we believe the Church is God’s gift to the world, called to be present and active in this cultural moment without being taken captive by it. In other words, the Church is meant to “move the world,” not move with the world. That’s why we equip believers with a Christian worldview through our media, training programs, and events—because a Church that “moves the world” starts with one faithful Christian. We need your help to continue strengthening the Church in 2025. Thanks to a generous matching donation, every gift between now and December 31 will be DOUBLED until we meet the full match. Help us strengthen the Church to move the world in 2025. Make a gift with double the impact at colsoncenter.org/swdecember.

The Strong Women podcast is a product of the Colson Center, which equips Christians to live out their faith with clarity, confidence, and courage in this cultural moment. Through commentaries, podcasts, videos, and more, we help Christians better understand what’s happening in the world, and champion what is true and good wherever God has called them. Advent together. And

for anybody that joined us in the reading of the Christmas Carol, I hope that that blessed you

0:43.1

and that you were able to read it with just different eyes this year. As I was, I was able to

see it from a different perspective, having heard from so many different people, the insights that

they found in the Christmas Carol.

0:55.7

So I hope that was helpful for you guys as well. So it's Christmas Day. That's when we're

And there's all kinds of feasts during this time, like the Feast of St. Stephen,

1:12.7

remembering the very first Christian martyr.

1:15.8

That happens on December 26th.

And then there's the Feast of the Holy Innocence, where we remember those that were innocent that died because of Herod's wrath in trying to find Jesus.

1:28.4

Remember that part of the story? When Herod had all the babies under two killed, and Jesus and his family fled to Egypt,

1:35.3

but Herod took the life of so many little babies. There's lots of other little feast days

Just Google the 12 days of Christmas. You'll probably find some random things, but you'll find

1:57.6

the list of all the different feast days, and it's kind of fun to just

celebrate those in small ways. Then the 12 days of Christmas ends with Epiphany, which is January 6th.
