Welcome, everyone. Pints with Jack is your weekly CS Lewis podcast, where Matt, Andrew and I

break down and discuss the works of C.S. Lewis.

This season, we're eavesdropping on the correspondence

for senior demon screwtap, as he explains how to tempt the patient, a human assigned to be tempted

by Scrutate's nephew, Wormwood. Each week we'll be considering a different letter,

untwisting screwtap's hellish logic and forming a battle plan for our own spiritual lives.

However, today is a Thursday, and it's therefore an after-hours episode. And we have a returning

guest to the show, Dr. Louis Marcos. Dr. Marcos is a professor in English at Houston Baptist

University where he holds the Robert H. Ray Chair in Humanities. He first appeared on Pites for Jack

back in Season 2, episode 22, to talk about Heaven

and Hell in Western literature.

And you heard him a couple of months ago in episode 61 talking about Owen Barfield and his

book Saving the appearances.

He is an authority on C.S. Lewis and has written a huge number of books on the inklings

and on ancient literature. And at the end of last year, he came

out with a new book, which we're going to be talking about today, The Myth Made Fact, reading

Greek and Roman mythology through Christian eyes. Dr. Marcus, welcome back to Pites for Jack.

Great to be back on. Thank you. What have you been up to since we spoke about heaven and hell

back in season two?

Oh my. Well, I've been always doing Greco-Roman stuff, and particularly the last couple of years.
